My name is Calie, and I am currently a student at the University of Minnesota working towards an actuarial science major (very few people know what that is so don’t sweat it 🙂 ). I was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota where I also spent most of my childhood. I have three brothers whom I love to death! Two of which are older and one is younger.
In the past I have worked in restaurants but currently I work at Jamba Juice, (for those of you who don’t have them in your area they are just a delicious smoothie shop). Like many of you, between school and work I don’t seem to have a lot of free time. I love playing soccer but haven’t had many opportunities in the past year. I also really enjoy cooking in my mom’s kitchen because she has all the fancy gadgets and experimenting with food can be loads of fun. One of my favorite places is in the mountains of Montana where my dad lives. I wouldn’t call myself a dedicated outdoors woman but I do love the outdoors.
Last year God took me on two incredible journeys, the first to Swaziland, Africa where I spent three months and the second to Bolivia where I spent two months. Prior to these adventures, my mission’s experiences are limited to a week trip to the Dominican Republic and another to Monterrey, Mexico.
God has definitely given me a heart for the nations and a passion for learning new cultures and languages. I certainly have an adventurous spirit and am not afraid to be challenged. I am truly looking forward to seeing how God is going to impact our team and others through us; it’s going to be great!
I can’t wait until we meet in Georgia!
