Sooooo after countless efforts of trying to figure out how to post a blog I thought I'd actually start reading the emails that explained how to post a blog, however through the process I had a chance to read everyone elses Bio and I'm officially pumped!
Who am I: I was born in Shreveport, LA….not much to say about that. Moved to Fort Worth, TX when I was two and have resided in Fort Worth, Arlington, and currently in Dallas. Needless to say, I know my DFW metroplex pretty well.
School: I graduated high school in 2007 and took two years to travel and do childrens ministry around the counrty. I could talk about that experience for hours…the good and the ugly but Ill spare you. Outside of the incrediable chance to experience full time ministry as a 18, 19, and 20 year old I also saw the country, (granted Ive yet to make it to california!) I came home in 2009 and began school at a community college. The fall of 2010 I transferred to Dallas Baptist University and am currently getting a degree in Philosophy.
Work: I work on campus with our reclife which pretty much means I have the best job on campus…minus the fact that we work 3 nights a week till eleven, but we are in charge of all intermural sports! I love it!
Passions: reading (call me a nerd, but I love reading Philosophy..hence my major… as well as theology books, but Im always up for some gripping novel or a romantic Jane Austin.
running is a hobby…a marathon is my goal! I love movies, and growing up with a Dad who also loved movies I am guilty of braveheart, gladiator, and the patriot being my top 3! I'm nothing short of a star wars and Lord of the Rings nerd and something weird about me…I hate comedies. I love to laugh but I never find comedic movies funny.
Outside of these things I love summer, sushi, rainy days with nothing to do, cute local coffee shops, hot tea, road trips, art, concerts (dream concert=U2), thrift stores, and more then anything good conversation with people I love!
Experience: England twice- spoke in religious education classes and worked in a local church
El Salvador- work in a childrens home and community clean up
I am sooooo sooo sooooo excited about this trip! My real passion is for the oppressed and fighting injustice. I have no idea what I want to do with the rest of my life but Id be completly content with whatever. Being poor or uncomfortable doesnt really scare me, but rather being stuck in a 9-5 desk job..that freaks me out!
I can't wait to meet everyone and I think we all are in the same boat, but I look forward to being pressed and stretched with you girls! We will have some incrediable stories!
